Shakespeare Within is an opportunity for teachers to re-energize their educational practices to promote a love of Shakespeare in the classroom, taking their teaching techniques to a new and exciting level.

In hands-on sessions, A Noise Within teaching artists will lead a series of workshops that will get educators out from behind the desk and on their feet, and guide the process of designing new lessons that pair textual analysis with other subjects.

These include fun, acting -based games and exercises, costume design, set design, and technology integration. This course is designed for those wishing to expand their knowledge of Shakespeare, as well as those for whom Shakespeare is relatively new.

INTRO TO FITZMAURICE VOICEWORK

Saturday, April 28, from 2-5pm, with Laura Flanagan

This 3-hour workshop is an introduction to Fitzmaurice Voicework, a dynamic approach to vocal training that encourages maximum freedom and focus through breath work and imagination.

Participants are asked to:

• Wear loose fitting sweats - nothing too tight around the waist.
• Bring a yoga mat and a firm pillow. Meditation pillows are perfect but not necessary.
• Five lines of text with rich language. This should be words that students know and love.

This work can be strenuous, but anyone can do it. (It is only as strenuous as your own body will want and allow.) Students will emerge relaxed and energized. They will notice freer breath and more clarity of thought and expression.
