To celebrate Latinx Heritage Month, we’re highlighting the fabulous work of Noise Now partners like Alex Alpharaoh. You may have seen him last summer for O-Dogg: An Angeleno Take on Othello. (And if you didn’t see O-Dogg, then you have another chance now!) Get to know Alex Alpharaoh and his artistic work.

These are definitely unprecedented times for all of us. Our industry has suffered tremendously due to our inability to go back to work on stages and sets. In spite of that, we have found ways and continue to innovate in order to bring education and entertainment to the masses through the work we create.

I’ve been fortunate enough to stay busy during this pandemic. My play, O-Dogg: An Angeleno Take on Othello, which had its first reading at ANW’s new works reading series last year, will be part of the Garry Marshall Theatre’s new works festival, as well as REDCAT’s New Original Works festival. The Garry Marshall’s reading is happening Saturday, September 26th, at 7pm via YouTube, while REDCAT will stream a documentary style presentation of the process of creating theatre (i.e. O-Dogg) in the time of COVID-19 from October 8-10th (a day before my birthday 10/11).

Aside from that, I am in development for my next solo show titled “WET: DREAMers”, I am private coaching, while also teaching Spoken Word and performance poetry, and writing my first memoir about my experiences as a formerly undocumented American.

When I’m not being creative, I am helping to tutor my 18-year-old daughter as she navigates through her first semester of college. I am also working on an agricultural start up company with my younger brother.

During my free time, I’m working on erasing the COVID-19 15 pounds I’ve gained over the last 6 months while watching reruns of The Office and binging new shows like Cobra Kai, and Ratched

I really look forward to the day we can all go back to work and bring live performances to audiences. Until then, may our toiling be productive.
