WITH A NOISE WITHIN: 

2024-25 Season: Understudy Mrs. Antrobus, The Skin of Our Teeth

ELSEWHERE: Joyce Lee is a Chicago native who received an MFA in Acting from New York University’s Tisch School. Thrilled to join A Noise Within’s cast as an understudy in SKIN. Joyce appeared in The Robey Theatre’s (LA), NAACP winning production, Transitions; Target Margin’s OBIE award-winning Mamba’s Daughter’s, and Woodie King Jr.’s New Federal Theatre (NY) production of Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, for which she won an Audelco award for her portrayal of Mattie Campbell. She most recently wrote, produced and starred in Essence of Innocence, a short narrative film on hate crime in which the young victim is caught between life and death. She was granted The Hollywood Fringe Festival’s Scholarship for new producers and mounted The Dean’s Office, a play about systemic racist policies in education that garnered a Best of Broadwater Theatre award. A member of SAG-AFTRA, AEA, The Actor’s Studio and The Black Association of Documentary Filmmakers West, she is currently prepping Who Invented the Bean Pie, a documentary about founding members of the Nation of Islam. Ms. Lee also teaches performing arts and has done so at Northwestern University, California State-Channel Island, Cornell University and New York Film Academy, (Burbank).
