The INsiders is a unique salon for our patrons: the perfect way to exchange ideas on our plays. Join us for our first discussion on banned books on September 3 prior to the 2:00 pm performance of The Bluest Eye. No advanced reading or prior knowledge is required and will be led by a panel featuring Cesar Avelar, Nikki High, and Director Andi Chapman.
Panelists
Andi Chapman | Born in New York City, Ms. Chapman is a Director Actor, and Educator. She is the Associate Artistic Director of The Ebony Repertory Theatre.
Her Directing credits include the critically acclaimed Native Son at Anteaus & Kirk Douglas Theatre, garnering Best Director nominations (Stage Raw & Broadway World). Ebony Repertory Theatre’s The Gospel at Colonus which garnered 14 Ovation Nominations including Best Play & Best Play Direction, and won the NAACP Theatre Award for Best Production. Others include the world premiere of BOTH AND (a play about laughing while Black). At Boston Court; The Abuelas, A Winters Tale, Mockingbird, As it is in Heaven, The Ninth Wave, The Actor’s Co-op Steel Magnolias (for which she garnered a Best Director Award), The Dutchman, A Summer Memory, and a host of others. |
Nikki High | Founder of Octavia’s Bookshelf – an independent bookstore in Pasadena. Octavia’s Bookshelf is a space where readers of all walks of life can enjoy books written by BIPOC writers, a space to find your new BFF inside a book, a space to find community, enjoy a cup of coffee, read, relax, find unique and specially curated products from artisans from around the world and in our neighborhood. I am looking forward to seeing you at Octavia’s Bookshelf. |
