How (and when) did you discover ANW?
I have always been a fan of classical theatre. I went to one of your early productions in Glendale and was immediately stuck by the quality of the actors and the experience itself. I have loved so many plays I’ve seen [at ANW]. Last fall’s All My Sons was particularly stunning: I was struck by the power of the acting and the respect given to Arthur Miller’s writing. The tragic depth of character that was revealed was totally immersing.

Throughout the years, the acting continues to be great–and the experience has become even better since moving to Pasadena. It’s a dramatic difference: not only have the stories and production have stepped up, it’s very welcoming for a theatre goer. Every seat in the house is a good seat, and it’s in a convenient location with convenient parking. It’s a very welcoming atmosphere.

What made you want to be an ANW pass holder?

I became a regular season pass holder since Pasadena. I was particularly attracted by the astonishing dedication Julia, Geoff, Terry Kay, and others on the board displayed when building the new theatre. I found their dedication inspiring, and made me want to be more involved.

What I love about my PremierPass is the fact that I can the see whole repertory for the year. I love the Terry and Jeanie Kay Founders Balcony and the opportunity to visit with friends, many of whom include Geoff and Julia and their team. The staff is unbelievably gracious, and it’s an incredibly warm culture to be a part of.

On a more practical level, I also love that box office is so accommodating and helpful whenever we have to change our dates–-that’s another reason why we’re season pass holders.

What do you tell the uninitiated about ANW?
ANW is legitimately high-quality classic theatre in an incredibly appealing theatre setting. It is also devoted to theatre education. I take classes of 100+ students to productions every year, and the positive feedback is very strong.

What are you most excited for in 2016/17?
I am always excited every season, but for the 25th Anniversary year, well, I have never seen Ah, Wilderness!, so I’m interested in that!
