High School Program Overview
From June 16 – July 18, participants ages 14-18 will dive headfirst into a rigorous, college-level theatre training curriculum, including the rehearsal and performance of Shakespeare’s beloved slapstick farce The Comedy of Errors on the A Noise Within main stage. In addition to rehearsal time, participants will take conservatory-style classes in Voice & Speech, Movement, Stage Combat, Text Analysis, Singing, and Improv Comedy from 10am to 4pm. Participants also have the option to take the Theatre Tech Elective from 4pm-5pm. In addition to building practical theatre skills as well as a proficiency of Shakespeare and classical theatre text, participants will learn the meaning of ensemble and leave Summer With Shakespeare with life-long friends.

Theatre Tech Elective
Between June 16 and July 11, participants ages 12-18 may opt into our debut Theatre Tech Elective from 4pm-5pm. Participants will work closely with A Noise Within’s theatre tech and design professionals to gain expertise in the essential behind-the-scenes skills of theatre-making.
Week 1 (June 16 – 20) – Set Design Intensive

Week 4 (July 7 – 11) – Light Design Intensive
Tuition
The program tuition is $1825 plus a $25 materials fee. The Theatre Tech Elective incurs an additional fee of $125-$150 per week. SWS t-shirts may be purchased for $20, and tickets to the final performance on July 18 may be purchased for $10.
A 20% non-refundable deposit is required within 72 hours of registration.
Returning campers will receive $50 off five-week program tuition.
Early Bird Special
Students that register for the Five-Week Intensive by February 28, 2025 will receive a $75 early bird discount. Tuition and fees must be fully paid by this date in order to receive the discount. This discount cannot be combined with the returning camper discount.
FAQ
What is the class schedule?
Classes run from 10am-4pm from Monday to Friday for the five weeks of the program. There are no classes on June 19 (Juneteenth) and on July 4. Participants are expected to attend all classes and rehearsals. Participants that opt to take the Theatre Tech Elective will have an additional hour of class from 4pm-5pm.
Are tuition scholarships available?
A limited number of scholarships are available for Summer 2025; interested participants should complete this form in order to be considered. The deadline to apply for a scholarship for Summer 2025 is April 30.
What is the cell phone policy at Summer With Shakespeare?
At Summer With Shakespeare, participants are welcome to bring cell phones to be used outside of regular camp hours. From 10am-4pm, cell phones must remain stowed away, including during lunch and breaks.
What do participants wear?
Participants are expected to dress in clothing that allows for movement. Participants must wear closed-toe shoes with a sole that are secure on the feet and are comfortable. No flip flops, sandals, short skirts, or very tight pants. Jewelry must be removed for movement and stage combat classes. This level of readiness is extremely important.
